College to preschool & everything in between

2008 was a crazy year for us and I would not change a thing about it. Mike quit his job in July to go to college full time and stay at home with the kids during the day. It was not an easy decision – going from full time work in a well established career to staying at home full time with a 8 month old and a 3 year old AND taking a full load at UAA! I have to say it took a lot of guts to make that decision and I am SO PROUD of him for doing it.

Mike’s first full semester went fabulously well. The family adjusted to his school schedule and hours upon hours of homework. And Mike enjoyed his classes and loved returning to a learning environment. His first semester was a huge success. He got straight A’s and made the chancellor’s list! How cool is that?!! He is determined to graduate with a honors – I have no doubt he will! I am so very proud of him!

Once his first semester was over, he got a couple weeks or relaxation in (ok, as much relaxation as you can get chasing two kids!). And then “we” put him to work. “We” as in the board members at Tyler’s preschool. Mike graciously accepted the task of building a reading loft for the school. It turned out great! The man has some talent!!! Mike and Tyler delivered it to the school this weekend and it was a big hit with all the kids and the parents too. Mike got lots of comments from other parents suggesting he go into business. I think he could do it! He made a really nice train table for Tyler a couple years ago. It looks like something you would buy in a high end toy store. I am telling you – he has talent! Check it out for yourself…
