Train trip to Seward

I am behind in my blogging again - no surprise! I will attempt to get it up-to-date over the next couple of weeks.

This summer Mike, Tyler and I took an all day long train trip to Seward. I was a little nervous leaving Alayna for that long, but she had a great time with Memere and Papa. Tyler missed his sister a bit, but was glad to have a special day with his mom and dad. He spent most of the train ride to and from Seward walking through all the train cars visiting with people and hanging out in the outdoor vestibules between the cars. Once we got to Seward we spent the afternoon walking around the town, visiting the Seward Sealife Center and playing at the cool park recently built right next to the harbor. What beautiful views we had from the slides! Here are some pictures from our trip:

Wreckage left after an avalanche took out a cargo train this past winter. Due to the remote location they have yet to clean up everything.

Tyler got tired of walking so he hitched a ride with Daddy

We should try to do this all together - I love the train! Hey... are you SURE that's a seal? It kind of looks like an otter.... just sayin.... maybe it's hard to tell in the small pic =). I heard that park is FABULOUS!!

It could be an otter! I should have done the post closer to when we actually took the trip and I would have remembered!

Ok I looked again and it IS a sea otter. They had the cutest baby otter there when we went. His name was skittles :) He died a couple weeks after we saw him. He somehow got stuck in the drainage system. How sad!!!

I love the train ride to Seward - so beautiful. I love having one on one dates with my kiddos - however few and far between they are! Tyler must have been in heaven:) That is so sad about the otter.
